WHAT TO EXPECT

For many people it can be a little daunting having a family photoshoot as you don't know where to start.  I have outlined the process below to give you an understanding of how it works.

How to begin

Get in touch with me and we will have a conversation to discuss your requirements and find out a bit more about your family to make sure we are the right fit and discuss possible locations.  Options could be at home in your garden or somewhere special to your family.  If you are looking for a weekend or a school holiday, especially if you are marking a certain occasion, it is best to get booked in early as they fill up the first. Once your booking has been made we can then decide on locations and I will send you guides on what to expect on the day and some tips to help you with your outfit choices.

On the day

From my experience I have found mornings are the best when it comes getting the best from young children.  I will suggest as early as possible to make the most out of the photoshoot as when we are outdoors we want to avoid shooting in the middle of the day. It is my job to make it a relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone and I have a few tricks up my sleeve to make sure this is the case.  If you have older children (i.e. teenagers who like a lie in) then we will book something for later in the day - usually the afternoon during golden hour.

A photoshoot can take a couple of hours but I recommend having a four hour window as you won’t feel properly relaxed if you think you’ve got somewhere else to go. Depending on the age of the children we may just need half an hour to have a snack break and refuel if energy levels get low. I’m more than happy to sit and wait if a power nap or energy boost is needed.

Post photoshoot

About two weeks after the photoshoot you will receive approximately 40 images on a password protected online viewing gallery. These will be a unique collection of edited images from the shoot that you can then share with your family and friends and decide which ones to print.

There are various ways to print your photos. I have a selection of frames to choose from to suit your style and beautiful albums, all printed on fine art paper to prolong the longevity of your stunning photos and memories. I want this process to be as smooth and as easy as possible so I am more than happy to advise on what might work best with framing depending on the location you have in mind.  I can create a mock up of an album for you and have packages available to make the decision process simple. I want you to get the same excitement and joy when you unwrap your albums and frames that I used to get when I developed a film and collected the prints.  Delivery of products can take 4-5 weeks depending on what you order so again please do think ahead if you are buying a present for a certain date.
